Privacy policy

Purpose 

This policy outlines how personal data obtained through the Organisation’s EduTribe website is collected, used, disclosed, and protected. It provides a transparent overview of why, when and how personal data is gathered and informs website Users and Members of their personal data rights.

Policy statement

General

1. The Organisation ensures Users and Members have access to this policy. Where definitions are required to support understanding, the words are in italics.
2. Personal data is collected when people:
   1. become members;
   2. subscribe to receive emails; or
   3. express interest in or submit a job application.
3. Personal data is used to help the Organisation:
   1. contact via email; and
   2. develop and inform content; and/or
   3. connect candidates and employers.
4. Information may be collected using Cookies and other tracking technologies. The Organisation uses Cookies to store Personal Data, via a web analytics service that allows the Organisation to view and analyse information.
5. Personal data may be collected when people communicate with the Organisation directly via email, telephone or mail. Data that is collected outside of the EduTribe Website is only stored and accessed by the Organisation for the purposes intended.
6. Personal data that is no longer required for legal, regulatory, contractual, operational, or business purposes is securely deleted, destroyed, or de-identified without undue delay.

Personal data sharing

7. The Organisation does not sell, rent or trade any personal data.
8. Personal data may be available to the following authorised staff within the Organisation:
   1. Website and IT systems administrators; or
   2. Recruiters and managers responsible for contacting Candidates.

Third party

9. Candidates who have applied for any position via an Employer on the Website must be aware that their Personal Data has also been shared with the Employer.
10. Users manage Cookies and plug ins consent through their own browser settings but must be aware that by using the Organisation’s website it is acknowledged personal information may be disclosed to and processed by third party providers that the Organisation uses for analytics and database storage. These may be located outside Australia and may not have equivalent laws to Australia.

Storage & Security of Personal Information

11. The Organisation takes all reasonable steps to ensure the security of our system to protect Personal data from misuse, interference and loss, as well as unauthorised access, modification or disclosure in accordance with Australian privacy laws.
12. The Organisation ensures all reasonable steps are taken for safeguarding personal data through third party providers, including performing due diligence, applying contractual safeguards and ongoing monitoring.

Website profiles

Member

13. Member’s profiles are not made public by default through the website. These profiles can only be viewed by Website administrators. Membership entitles the Member to free access to resources which can be used solely by the Member while a registered Member.
14. Members who create a profile on the Website for the purpose of participating in the Discussion Forum, must be aware their name is publicly visible to any Website User. The Organisation is not responsible for the privacy of the data once the Member comments on a discussion post.

Candidates and Employers

15. Users may set up a Candidate or Employer profile on the website.
16. These profiles are for the purpose of employment and can be made public or private. When the profile is public, all details, including contacts, are visible to any website User. When the profile is private, only website administrators can see it. The Organisation is not responsible for the privacy of the data once the user opts for a public profile.

Personal information access or changes

17. Members, Candidates or Employers can access, change or update profiles at any time by logging into the profile area on the Website.
18. Members can unsubscribe from the website and the email list at any time.
19. Personal data information stored by Employers must be requested directly from the Employer.
20. Candidates, who are not registered as Members on the Website, but have expressed interest in a position through the Website must contact the Organisation directly regarding their Personal data. Requests to access this information must be sent to customerservice@onetree.org.au.
21. Members may remove all Personal data from the Website and the Organisation’s systems by deleting their profile from the website.

Member-generated content

22. The Organisation is not responsible for the Member-generated content on the Website. All reasonable steps are implemented to ensure content is respectful, inoffensive, and legally acceptable. MC-FOR-010 EduTribe Website Terms and Conditions governs the use of the EduTribe website and the rights and obligations of all Users.

Feedback and complaints

23. Please contact the Organisation at customerservice@onetree.org.au if you believe the Organisation has breached your privacy rights, or if you would like to discuss any aspect of our website privacy policy.

Definitions

Candidate refers to individuals who registered on the Website specifically to respond to job ads published on the Website.

Cookies are small text files that websites place on computers and mobile devices aiming to enhance and simplify online visits. Cookies can be erased from your computer or mobile device using your browser. For instructions on how to handle and delete cookies please look under “Help” in the browser.

Discussion forum is a public forum available on the EduTribe Website for Members to publish comments and content. All Users can view the Discussion forum. Only registered Members can publish on the Discussion forum.

Employer refers to individuals or entities registered on the Website and can post job ads.

Member-generated content is any form of content such as video, blog posts, comments, digital images, audio files, and other forms of media that was created by Members and is publicly available on the Website.

Members are individuals who have registered on the EduTribe Website to gain access to products and services and have subscribed to receive regular emails from the Organisation.

Organisation is One Tree Community Services Inc.

Personal data refers to any data collected that identifies a person, such as names, addresses, telephone numbers and other information.

Third party is an individual or an organisation which may be indirectly involved but is not a principal party to an arrangement, contract or transaction.

Users are individuals who access the EduTribe Website but are not registered as a Member, and therefore have limited access to content, products and services on the Website.
